The human body contains almost 2 kg of bacteria and other microorganisms. These can be found on literally every surface of our skin and in our organs, including our stomach, mouth, and intestines. (1)

All of these bacteria are called the microbiome, and the number of microbes that make up the microbiome is about ten times greater than our own cells. (1)
